Severe back pain or sciatica pain can hurt a lot and these asanas can give you relief from upper back pain as well as sciatica. This yoga for beginners is a fantastic combination of strength as well as balance. The added bonus is that it helps you de-stress!

You may be aware that severe back pain or back spasms can lead to slipped disc. Hence practising these yoga postures is truly effective. When done properly this asana strengthens your back, neck, legs as well as ankles.

In today’s fast-paced world where these is no time for exercise, taking out 10 minutes of your day can be of great benefit for your health. In fact this pose is considered as one of the poses in the category of yoga for beginners. If your body feels tight and wound up, you definitely have to try this yoga posture.

Here are the steps to this awesome yoga posture that can give you back pain and sciatica relief

Come up on to the knees and bring the left foot forward.

Take your right elbow and bring it outside the left knee.

Knee stays in line with the heel. Press your left palm against your thigh to twist so that the twist is coming all the way from the abdomen.

Bring the palms together and then when you feel nice and stable, tuck the toes up the right leg and lift the knee off the ground.
You can look over to the side or behind. To get even deeper into the twist, allow the right palm to come down and the left palm to come up.

Release by dropping the knee down and come back to the centre.
For an additional, really nice, tight twist try a binding pose.
Bring the elbow, all the way down, so that the shoulders are on to the knee. Give yourself a little twist, and right palm underneath and left palm over. Bring the finger tips together, hook them and then lift off of the back leg. See if you can look behind you, to really enjoy the full benefits of the twists.

To release, drop down, palms down, leg back and then over to the opposite side.”
